Algarve

Our home base during our eleven-day stay was the little village of Cabanas de Tavira. From there we made day trips all along the southern coast of Portugal. The Algarve, as the area is called, has a mild climate with lots of sun. Orange and lemon trees were full of fruits and the olive and almond trees were starting to flower. The Algarve is also known for it's salt flats and wine groves and in Monchique you can see how cork is harvested.
